Steps to Apply & Register
Welcome to College of the Siskiyous! To apply and register, complete the following steps. Note: For K-12 students, there are special requirements outlined on the K-12 Special Admissions page. If you an adult learner wishing to take COS Extension (Community Education) classes only, please see the COS Extension information page.
1: Apply to attend College of the Siskiyous. Go to Navigator to set up an account and complete the form for attending COS. If you need assistance, see our Getting Started with Navigator FAQ page.
2: Apply for Financial Aid & Housing. Every student who intends to complete a degree, certificate, or transfer should complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Financial Aid) regardless of income. If you need a place to live, COS offers on-campus housing.
3: Complete the Math, Reading and Writing Assessments. To determine which classes are right for you, complete skills assessments at the Weed or Yreka campuses, some high schools, or another community college.
4: Attend a SOAR Session: Siskiyous Orientation, Advising and Registration. All new students who plan to earn a degree, certificate or transfer must attend a pre-registration orientation and advising session before registering for classes. Enroll in a SOAR session.
5: Register for Classes. Register for classes online or in person at the Weed and Yreka campuses.
6: Use Follow-up and Support Services. After the semester begins, stop by Counseling and Support Services in Eddy Hall to ask any questions and receive help!
