Important Facts
Measure
A will cost the average taxpayer $2.50 per month annually, and will
generate approximately $31 million for construction funds in Siskiyou
County.
PROJECTS
TO BE FUNDED
The
College has identified well over 20 projects in need of funding,
with the top priorities for funding including:

Rural
Health Sciences Training Institute
-
New
and remodeled classroom and library space on the Weed Campus
(including Fire Science classroom space)

Renovation
of the Life Sciences Building
-
Renovation
of the Lodges (Residence Halls)
-
Completing
the "distance learning network" to include send and
receive sites at or near every high school in the county that
chooses to participate
-
Updating
and expansion of instructional technology
-
Updating
college infrastructure and non-instructional spaces
WHY IS MEASURE A OF VALUE TO CITIZENS OF SISKIYOU
COUNTY?

It will lead to the improvement of health care
and fire protection in the county.

Measure A provides the opportunity for the College
to develop new programs to meet community needs that cannot
currently be started due to lack of facilities

It will lead to additional out of county students
coming to COS who will live, study and spend money in the county

Measure A will provide needed support to local
high schools who will be able to share resources among themselves
as well as the College to meet the needs of their students
-
It will enhance the ability of the College to
reach out to local citizens to provide job training and education
in preparation for university transfer
-
Measure A will provide millions of dollars to
local vendors and subcontractors in the construction industry

It will enhance the College's ability to grow
and remain a vital part of the community
