BIOLOGY 91 – BIOLOGY PREPARATION - is a one-unit prerequisite course that covers the basic biological concepts necessary to succeed in Biology 1 – Principles of Biology, Biology 2 - Zoology, Biology 3 - Botany, Biology 6 – Microbiology, and Biology 12B – Human Physiology. Even if you have previous courses in Biology and Chemistry we would like you to take the Bio 91. In a very few cases we will waive the prerequisite. If you think you should be one of them you should contact Dave Clarke in the Biology Department at 530-938-5250. Biology Preparation is designed solely to be the prerequisite to the Biology Majors courses (Principles of Biology, Zoology, Botany) and the Microbiology and Physiology for the Health careers students. That means that EVERYTHING in this short course is essential for your success in the courses. It is also designed so that, if you already possess that knowledge, you will test out of Bio 91 very quickly, with the knowledge that you are indeed ready for the course. There are 3 pieces within Bio 91: Basic Science, Basic Chemistry and Basic Cell. For each section, there is a set of objectives, reading assignments from the text, and online activities. You will take the Section Exit Quiz 1 when you think you're ready . If you pass that first try, you will move on to the next section. If you don't you'll be able to re-take the quiz (different questions - same material) until you pass it. Those of you who are registering for classes using the online registration will have to do so in 3 steps. First, register for Bio 91. Second, call the counseling office at 530-938-5353 and explain to them that you have registered for Bio 91 and need someone to confirm that and make the computer change which will allow you to enroll in Bio 3 (or Bio 6 or Bio 12B). Third, after they've made the change, you can then go back into the online registration and complete your registration for the fall! FALL 09! The Fall section of Bio 91 (Section # 0015) will open up on November 2nd. Many of you are already enrolled, which is good. As November approaches you NEED to email Bio91@siskiyous.edu to get access to the course. Bio 91 is NOT AN ETUDES COURSE AND YOU WON'T FIND IT IN THE ETUDES SHELL.
Biology is the study of living systems and how they interact with the nonliving world and with one another. It is a discipline that bridges the physical and social sciences. Please click on a link below...
