Welcome to the class introduction page for Web Publishing
I, CSCI 28A. This page refers to the class being held in
the Fall 2009 semester online in the Online
Classroom ~ Etudes. Please read the
following information and contact the
instructor via email David Donica (donica@siskiyous.edu) if you
have any questions. You can expect an email response within 48
hours during the
semester. Make sure you use a descriptive subject line for your
email so it doesn't get accidentally deleted as spam.
Class begins on Monday, August 17th, 2009 and
ends on Friday, December 11th, 2009. The final will be given on Tuesday, December 15th, 2009. The class will be entirely online and using the Etudes Course Management System. See the Calendar page
for the most current schedule of this course.
Course Objectives ~ Student Learning Outcomes:
Some of the concepts you will learn in this
class are:
How
to create a well-designed website
How to create and manipulate
web images
How to format and align text on web pages
How to transfer web files
and images to a web server
How to create
links to other web pages, files, and images
Course Information
Course prerequisites & recommendations: There
is no required prerequisite, but you should have some computer
experience
in order to succeed in this class.
Course requirements and grading: This will
be discussed in more detail in the Syllabus.

In general, there are exercises and quick quizzes to be completed each week, a
multi-page
web project due at the end of the semester, and a final
exam to be taken the last week of the semester.
Time Expectations: Expect
to spend approximately eight hours per week over the entire semester.
This will inculde 3 hours using the online classroom and approximately
5 hours outside the online classroom. You will be required to participate
each week, you will not be able
to
complete
the
entire
course
in the last few weeks. This is not an independent-study class.
Lecture notes
and assignments will be posted each week. You will have
to submit your work each week if you
want to
pass the course. Plan to be online at least 2-3 times per week
to get up to date information about the discussions, assignments,
and Calendar schedule.
