COMPASS Assessment Preparation

Taking your English and Math assessment is an important first step to college. You will need your Social Security Number or a student ID number which can be obtained by calling Counseing Services at 530-938-5353. Please bring your social security card if do not know your number. You also need picture identification. If you need disability related accommodations to take this exam, contact Counseling Services at 530-938-5353 or the DSPS office at 530-938-5297. Please allow at least 3 school days for coordination of accommodations.

 If you are taking your assessment at another community college please check with their assessment center to find out what you will need. For more information about taking assessments at another college please click HERE. After taking the assessment fax or mail the following information to the COS Assessment Center:

      • Assessment scores
      • The course number and title of the Math, English, Reading classes recommended by the assessment
      • Course Description from the college from which you took your assessment.

The College of the Siskiyous testing instrument is the ACT Compass. You must have an appointment to take the COMPASS test. The Compass is approximately 2 hours long. Your results are available immediately after you have finished. At the Yreka Campus you will need to call 842-1245 to arrange an appointment.

Assessments must be taken prior to your SOAR appointment.
