Once you have logged in successfully, you will see at least two tabs at the top of your screen. Click on the course tab to enter your classroom. If you have registered for more than 4 courses, click on the - more - drop down box at the far right.  If you do not see your course tab, either the instructor has not opened the class yet, or you are not on the course roster. Contact your instructor and let him/her know that you cannot see the course tabs.

To reorder your course tabs, click on Preferences in My Workspace, and then on Customize Tabs.

New to Etudes?

Take the 3 week Orientation to Online Learning with Etudes class (EDUC 90).  It is a .5 unit class offered at the beginning and end of each of semester. This orientation class is designed for both new and experienced online students. You will learn how to use the Etudes online classroom software in a lower stress environment than you’ll have in a full-term online class. Check the course schedule for dates.

Login Problems?

invalid login screen shotIf you are seeing an error messag when you try to log in, either you are entering your userid incorrectly or entering the wrong password.

If you are a brand-new Etudes user:

  • Your account may not have been created yet, wait until the following morning after you have registered for the course
  • Make sure you are using the intials for your COS registration name (William or Bill?)
  • Make sure you have included the last 5 digits of your SSN or student ID# (a student ID# is assigned only to those who specifically request it)
  • Contact your instructor and let him/her know that you are having problems and what steps you have taken.

If you have logged into Etudes before, and are getting the error screen, you probably changed your password and are trying to log in with the old one.  To have your password reset:

  • click on the Reset Password link on the Gateway and enter your email address. This will send a new password to you immediately - check your bulk or spam folder if you don't see it in your inbox.
  • If your email address is not in the system, click on Login Help and then the 5th bullet under Login and Other Help: Request to have your account updated if you do not have an email address in the system OR it's an old/duplicate one.
You can then fill out the form and ask for a password reset as well.  This email response may take up to 24 hours.
  • Contact your instructor and let him/her know that you are having problems and what steps you have taken.
  • If all else fails, contact the Distance Learning office.
